What to bring and how to prepare

Bring swimwear and a towel, shoes with grip, a change of clothes, sunscreen, a hat, mosquito repellent, a reusable water bottle and cash for the park fee and life jacket rental.

  • Erawan National Park fee: 300 baht per adult (as of June 2026), paid in cash on the day; children pay a lower rate.
  • Life jackets for swimming can be rented at the falls for about 30 baht per person.
  • Food is not allowed beyond the second tier of the falls, and each drink bottle carries a 20-baht deposit that is refunded when you bring it back.
  • The park is open from 8:00 am to about 4:30 pm and does not admit visitors after about 3:30 pm, so the group needs to arrive on time.
  • It is a long day: about 13 hours, with several hours on the road each way. Wear swimwear under your clothes and shoes with grip, because the limestone is slippery when wet.
  • Weekends and public holidays are crowded at Erawan, and during Songkran (13-15 April) the falls turn into a water-fight party: leave non-waterproof phones and cameras behind.
  • The war sites are memorials: keep your voice low, and note that photos are not allowed in the first section of the JEATH War Museum.
  • Times are approximate and change with traffic and weather.

What shifts by season

Bangkok and central Thailand have a cool, dry season from about November to February, a hot season from March to May and rains from about June to October. Day trips run all year; in the hot months an early start and water make the difference.
