What to bring and how to prepare
Bring light clothes, comfortable shoes that stay on, a small poncho in the rainy season, a phone you can hold tight and some cash for extra drinks and tips.
- Food included: a street-food meal and a dessert in Chinatown. Drinks other than water, extra snacks and tips are paid by you.
- Vegetarian options and allergies: tell us when you book. The operators of this kind of tour say they arrange a vegetarian option or do their best to adapt when told in advance. Street stalls are small, so we cannot promise a fully vegan or allergen-free meal; we tell you what is possible before you pay.
- The temples are seen from the street or the river bank, lit up; the tour does not go inside them, so you do not need temple clothes.
- Tuk-tuks are open at the sides: hold your phone and bag tight and wear shoes that stay on.
- The tour runs in the rain. Tropical showers are usually short, and the guide shelters if it rains hard; bring a light poncho in the rainy season.
- The order of the stops and the times are approximate and can change with traffic.
- The tour ends in Chinatown, not at the meeting point; taxis and ride-hailing apps are easy to find there.
- Bangkok traffic is heavy: please be at the meeting point on time, the group waits up to 10 minutes.
What shifts by season
Bangkok and central Thailand have a cool, dry season from about November to February, a hot season from March to May and rains from about June to October. Day trips run all year; in the hot months an early start and water make the difference.
