The tour costs from $40 per person

Our Krabi 7 Islands sunset tour costs from $40 per person. It is a shared longtail boat tour from Ao Nang that lasts about 7 to 8 hours door to door. A driver collects you from your hotel in Ao Nang or Krabi Town between about 12:00 and 1:30 pm, the boat leaves Nopparat Thara Pier at about 1:00 to 2:00 pm, and you are back at your hotel at about 7:30 to 8:00 pm. The day is snorkelling, Chicken Island and the Tup sandbar, dinner on Poda and a night swim.

From means the price starts there for the tour as listed. Exchange rates move, so convert dollars to baht on the day if you compare it with a quote in baht. We confirm the date, the pickup time and the total on WhatsApp before you pay, and how and when to pay is agreed with your booking. For the stops one by one, read the travel guide.

What the price includes

The price includes round-trip hotel transfer in Ao Nang and Krabi Town, the longtail boat tour with an English-speaking guide, a buffet dinner with Thai dishes and BBQ on Poda Island, drinking water and seasonal fruit, a mask, snorkel and life jacket, and accident insurance. That is the whole list. Dinner is the biggest item in it, so you do not need to plan or pay for an evening meal.

Two things are not on the list: the national park fee, covered below, and fins. Tell us about vegetarian, halal or allergy needs when you book, because dinner is a Thai buffet with BBQ. Railay and Tonsai guests meet the boat at Railay or at the pier, and we confirm the exact point with your booking. Wikipedia notes that Railay can be reached only by boat.

The national park fee: 200 baht per adult, 100 per child, in cash

The park fee is not in the tour price. On our tour it is 200 baht per adult and 100 baht per child, paid in cash at the pier. It is a government fee, so two adults and one child need 500 baht. Wikipedia says the Poda group, Ko Poda, Ko Kai, Ko Mo and Ko Thap, is under the administration of Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, and Wikivoyage lists Ko Kai, Chicken Island, among them.

The Department of National Parks published its fee schedule on 2 June 2022, in force from 7 June 2022. It puts this park in the group where foreign adults pay 200 baht and children 100, which matches our amounts. The searches we ran found no newer schedule as of October 2026, so the amount at the pier is the one that counts. Some sites quote 400 and 200. The Thaiger reported on 6 October 2022 that the park's Phi Phi islands carry 400 and 200; those are not on our route, but public pages do not say which island is billed at which rate.

How the price compares with our 4 Islands tour

Our Krabi 4 Islands speedboat tour is from $35 per person, so the 7 Islands tour costs $5 more. For that you get a longer day of about 7 to 8 hours, not about 6, a BBQ buffet dinner on Poda instead of a picnic lunch, a sunset on the water and the night swim. The 4 Islands day has a stop at Phra Nang Cave Beach that this route does not. The park fee is the same 200 baht per adult and 100 per child on both tours. Our 4 Islands price guide has the details of that day.

The boats differ too. This tour runs on a longtail, the traditional boat that Wikipedia says is powered by a second-hand car or truck engine mounted on a pole that swivels to steer; the same article notes that speedboats hold more people and travel faster. Our comparison of the 7 Islands and 4 Islands tours sets out the choice, and the longtail or speedboat guide covers the boats.

What changes the day, not the price: tide, plankton and season

The tide sets the order of the stops. The Tup sandbar appears at low tide, and at high tide you see it from the boat. Wikivoyage says the same of the islands: at low tide you can walk between Ko Mo, Ko Thap and Ko Kai, a path it calls picturesque but often crowded. The plankton swim, a swim of about 30 minutes in the dark near Railay, depends on the moon, the tide and the water, so a sighting cannot be guaranteed. Our plankton guide explains why.

Season matters for the sea. Our tour information gives November to March as usually the calmest time, with April and May hot and clear; in the rainy season the tour still runs when the water is calm enough, and otherwise it moves to another day. Wikipedia gives the park's rainy season as May to December. The Thai Meteorological Department's normals for 1991 to 2020 put the Andaman side of the south at 368.8 mm of rain in October, 193.1 mm in November and 91.5 mm in December.

Who should not book this tour

The tour is not recommended for pregnant women, infants under 2, people with heart conditions or people with back, neck or spine problems. Young children and older guests may find it hard to climb into a longtail boat from the beach, so tell us who is coming. No large bags, backpacks or drones are allowed on the boat; take a small waterproof bag for your phone and cash.

Think twice too if you want a morning at the beach or to be back before dark. The tour returns to your hotel at about 7:30 to 8:00 pm, and the 4 Islands speedboat tour is back at about 2:00 pm. Jellyfish appear in some seasons and long swimwear helps. A swim in the dark sea is part of the plan, so tell us before you book if that worries you.

How booking and payment work

Send us the date, your hotel and the number of guests on WhatsApp. We confirm availability, the pickup time and the total before you pay. The programme can change with the weather and the sea; if it is unsafe, the operator moves the trip to another date or refunds it. Our reasons to book this tour set out what the evening is like.

Bring cash in baht for the park fee, swimwear, a towel, a dry change of clothes for the ride back, water shoes, sunscreen and a hat. Our tour schedule gives the times and the packing list. Water shoes are better than flip-flops on shells, rocks and the sandbar. Use the toilet at the pier before the boat leaves.

Practical checklist

  • Tell us about vegetarian, halal or allergy needs when you book.
