What does a Koh Larn tour from Pattaya cost, and what is covered?

Our Koh Larn Coral Island tour is from $25 per person and lasts about 6 hours. The price covers the speedboat from Pattaya to Koh Sak and Koh Larn and back, a guide on the boat, snorkelling equipment, a paddle board and bottled water. It is a shared speedboat tour. We confirm the date, the meeting time and the total on WhatsApp before you pay, and how and when you pay is agreed with your booking.

Not included are lunch, which you buy at a beach restaurant on Koh Larn of your own choice, and the optional water sports. Parasailing, a sea walk and jet skis are run by vendors on the islands and paid on the spot. Prices change, so agree the price before you start, and bring cash for both. If you are choosing between our boat and the public ferry, our comparison of the speedboat and the ferry covers the crossing.

Where do you meet, and how long is the day?

You meet at the marina on Pattaya Beach Road at about 9:00 am, or you ask for pickup from your hotel. Hotel pickup is available in the operator's service area, and outside it a private car costs extra, so tell us where you are staying when you book. The tour ends back at the marina after about 6 hours, and the pickup times for hotels are confirmed with your booking.

The public ferry leaves from a different place. According to Pattaya Mail, Bali Hai Pier is at the southern end of Pattaya Beach Road, just beyond Walking Street. Our tour page names the marina on Pattaya Beach Road as the meeting point and do not name a pier, so follow the meeting point we send with your booking. For the stops and the timings of the day, see our tour schedule.

What would you pay doing it yourself?

A day on your own starts with the public ferry. The Pattaya–Koh Larn Passenger Boat Club announced a rise from 30 to 40 baht per passenger one way from 10 April 2026, the first change since 2010, and Pattaya Mail reported that a return trip still costs under 100 baht. Some later guides still quote 30 baht, so expect 40 and carry change. A beach chair costs around 100 to 200 baht, according to Pattaya Mail's August 2026 guide, and some restaurants waive it if you order food or drinks.

Getting around the island adds a little. Wikivoyage's travel guide, whose transport sections were last edited in December 2024, gives 20 to 30 baht per person for a songthaew between the main beaches and Na Baan pier, and 300 baht a day for a rented motorbike, which can be bargained down to 200. We found no dated price for hiring snorkelling gear or a paddle board, so those are not counted here. Add lunch, which you pay for in both cases.

Tour or ferry: which is better value?

On cash alone, going yourself wins. Two ferry fares at 40 baht come to 80 baht, and with a chair the fixed costs are a few hundred baht at most, while our price is from $25. What the tour adds is what the ferry does not: it goes to Koh Sak for about two hours of swimming and snorkelling before Koh Larn, it includes the gear and the paddle board, and the crossing is by speedboat. Our tour page says the ferry is cheaper but slower and goes to one beach.

So the tour suits people who want snorkelling and a second island in half a day, who would rather not sort out piers, tickets and an island songthaew, or who are a group that wants one fixed price. The ferry suits people who want only a beach, are happy to wander and want to spend as little as possible. Both are reasonable choices, and they are different days.

Which beaches will you see?

The tour starts at Koh Sak, a small island 0.6 km off the northern tip of Koh Larn, according to Wikipedia, with a horseshoe-shaped beach in the north. Pattaya Mail wrote in September 2025 that snorkellers there see coral reefs, seagrass beds and striped fish, and that the island also has sliders, stand-up paddleboards and banana boat rides. On our tour Koh Sak gets about two hours of swimming, snorkelling and the paddle board.

Koh Larn itself has eight beaches, most on the west side, says Wikipedia. Pattaya Mail's 2026 guide describes Tawaen as the busiest and most developed, Tien as more relaxed with a wooden walkway, Nual in the south as good for swimming and snorkelling and sometimes visited by monkeys, and Samae as a wide sandy beach popular for sunsets. Our tour page says about three hours on the beach but do not name which one, so ask us which beach your date uses.

When is it busy, and what about the sea?

Wikipedia says Koh Larn receives about 3,000 visitors a day in low season and up to 10,000 in high season, and our tour page says the beaches are busy at weekends and on Thai holidays. Pattaya Mail's July 2025 holiday report described ferries running non-stop and crowds from morning to evening. If you can, choose a weekday.

The sea matters more for the speedboat than for the ferry. Pattaya Mail wrote in December 2024 that November to February is the high season, with less rain, calm seas and excellent visibility, and in August 2026 that rough seas from May to October can suspend speedboat services. If the sea is unsafe on your day, our operator moves the trip to another date or refunds it.

Who should not book, and how booking works

Our tour page do not recommend the trip for pregnant women or for guests with heart problems, and a moderate level of fitness is needed. If you only want a quiet day on one sunbed, with no boat stops, the ferry and a single beach is simpler and cheaper. Parasailing or a jet ski is available on the islands but is not part of the price, and we have no dated price list to quote.

To book, send us the date, your hotel and the number of guests on WhatsApp. We confirm availability, the meeting time and the total before you pay. Tell us your hotel so we can say whether it is inside the pickup area, and bring cash for lunch and any water sports. Pattaya Mail's August 2026 guide also advises bringing cash because ATMs may be unreliable at busy times.

Practical checklist

  • Send your date, hotel and number of guests on WhatsApp and wait for the confirmed total.
  • Bring cash for lunch and for any water sports, and agree prices first.
  • Wear swimwear under your clothes and bring a towel, sunscreen and a hat.
  • Tell us your hotel so we can say whether it is in the pickup area.
  • Choose a weekday if you want quieter beaches.
