Short answer
A Phi Phi island tour from Phuket with us costs from $75 per person for a shared speedboat day of about 8.5 hours. The price covers the hotel minibus both ways, the speedboat with an English-speaking guide, a buffet lunch on Phi Phi Don, snorkelling gear and accident insurance. The one extra is the national park fee: on our tour the operator collects 400 baht per adult and 200 per child in cash on the day. We confirm the date, pickup time and total on WhatsApp before you pay.
The price is from $75 per person, with the park fee on top
Our Phi Phi speedboat day from Phuket costs from $75 per person. It is a full day of about 8.5 hours on a shared speedboat with up to 35 guests: hotel pickup in Phuket between about 7:00 and 8:30 am, departure from Royal Phuket Marina at about 9:30, and arrival back at the marina at about 5:30 to 6 pm, followed by the drive to your hotel. The order of the stops changes with the tide and the crowds, and our tour schedule article covers the day in detail.
One cost is not in the dollar price: the Phi Phi national park fee. On our tour the operator collects it in cash on the day, 400 baht per adult and 200 baht per child. Keep that money in baht, in a dry bag, before you leave the hotel. Towels are not included either, so bring your own with swimwear and sunscreen.
What the price includes and what it does not
The from-$75 price includes the round-trip transfer from your hotel in Phuket in an air-conditioned minibus, the speedboat tour with an English-speaking guide, light refreshments at the marina and on board, a buffet lunch on Phi Phi Don, a mask, snorkel and life jacket, and accident insurance. That is the list from the operator who runs our Phi Phi day, and it is the one to compare against any other quote.
Not included are the park fee described above and towels. Because only light refreshments are provided besides lunch, a little cash for anything extra you want to buy is sensible. If you are comparing us with a cheaper offer, ask that company the same questions: is the park fee in the price, is lunch in the price, and is hotel pickup in the price?
The park fee: 400 and 200 baht on our tour, and why sources differ
We give 400 baht per adult and 200 baht per child as what the operator collects on our tour, not as an official rate. In October 2026 we could not confirm a current official schedule for the Phi Phi national park, and the sources we found disagree. You may see a different figure on another company's page, and that is a reason to ask what exactly it covers.
The 400 baht figure has a long history. Thai PBS reported on 28 February 2017 that the advisory committee of the Department of National Parks had decided to keep 400 baht for foreign adults and 200 for children, after a group of more than 500 Krabi tourism and boat operators asked for a cut. The department's director-general cited its announcement of 22 November 2007, which sets those rates for all the islands in the park, such as Phi Phi Leh and Bamboo Island. Manager Online's April 2008 report of the same announcement adds that the rates elsewhere in the park were 200 and 100 baht.
Newer sources are less clear. A fee table that TrueID published in June 2022, reporting the revised national park rates, puts this park in a group charging foreign adults 200 baht and children 100. Bangkok Airways' February 2026 guide lists 200 and 100 baht as the entrance fee, plus a separate conservation fee of 400 and 200 baht for Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Leh, Bamboo Island and Maya Bay. We cannot say how these combine on the day, so we quote only what our operator collects.
Why one Phi Phi tour costs more than another
Prices on Phuket tour desks vary widely, and two recent guides give the range. Phuket 101, updated in April 2026, puts group speedboat tours at roughly 1,500 to 3,000 baht per person, sunrise tours at 3,500 to 4,500 baht, and private speedboat charters from 15,000 to 25,000 baht for the whole boat. Visit Thailand Today's October 2026 ferry guide says Phi Phi day tours with hotel pickup, lunch and snorkel gear run from about 1,900 to 6,200 baht, with a standard speedboat trip from about 2,400.
The same guides point to what moves the number: the type of boat, the size of the group (Phuket 101 says speedboat groups range from 14 to 40 passengers; ours is up to 35), whether lunch, pickup and the park fee are included, and whether you join a group or charter a boat. Phuket 101 also says big-boat day tours typically go to Tonsai Bay on Phi Phi Don and move you to a smaller boat for island hopping, so check which stops a cheaper tour really includes. Our speedboat or big boat guide goes through the differences.
Doing Phi Phi without a tour: what the ferry route costs
The public ferry is cheaper per ticket, but it is a different trip. Visit Thailand Today's October 2026 guide gives about 500 to 700 baht for a standard seat on the big ferry from Rassada Pier to Tonsai on Phi Phi Don, taking about two hours, and 750 to 850 baht for a speedboat that takes about an hour. Each fare is one way. You also pay 20 baht in cash at Tonsai as you step ashore.
A ferry only takes you to the village. Phuket 101 says that to see Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon and the other bays from there you hire a longtail boat at Tonsai Pier, and it quotes 1,500 to 3,000 baht for a private half-day or full-day trip. The national park fee is still due on top. Add the transfer to Rassada Pier, lunch and snorkelling gear before you call that option cheaper, and remember that the last ferries back leave in the afternoon.
Who this price is not for
A speedboat day is a poor fit for some travellers, whatever it costs. On our tour pregnant women, infants under 1 year and guests over 70 are not allowed on the speedboat. The ride can be bumpy in the open sea, and guests with back problems should consider a bigger boat. If anyone in your group gets seasick easily, read our Phi Phi or James Bond Island comparison before you book.
It is also the wrong purchase if you hope to swim at Maya Bay: swimming there is not allowed, as our Maya Bay rules guide explains. And from 1 August to 30 September Maya Bay is closed to visitors. The tour still runs on those dates, but Maya Bay is seen from the boat only, which our August and September guide covers.
How booking and payment work
Booking is by WhatsApp. Send us the date, your hotel in Phuket and the number of guests. We confirm availability, the pickup time and the total before you pay, and how and when to pay is agreed with your booking. The exact pickup time, between about 7:00 and 8:30 am depending on your hotel, is confirmed the day before.
If the sea is unsafe on your date, the operator moves the trip to another date or refunds it. That decision belongs to the operator, who knows the sea on the day, and we pass it on to you. For the rest of the decision, read why people book this tour and the stop-by-stop travel guide, or check the questions on our FAQ page.
Practical checklist
- Ask every tour you compare whether the park fee, lunch, hotel pickup and snorkelling gear are inside the price.
- Keep 400 baht per adult and 200 per child in cash for the park fee on our tour.
- Check that nobody in your group is pregnant, under 1 year old or over 70 before you choose a speedboat day.
- Check your dates against the Maya Bay closure from 1 August to 30 September.
- Send your date, hotel and number of guests on WhatsApp and wait for the total before you pay.
Questions and answers
Is $75 the final price per person?
It is the starting price, shown as from $75 per person. We confirm the date, pickup time and total on WhatsApp before you pay. The national park fee is paid separately, in cash, on the day.
Is lunch included in the Phi Phi tour price?
Yes. A buffet lunch on Phi Phi Don is included, together with light refreshments at the marina and on board. Towels are not included, so bring one.
Why is the park fee not in the price?
On our tour the operator collects it in cash on the day, so it is paid on top of the dollar price. Phuket 101 notes that other tours sometimes include the fee and sometimes not, so always ask.
Is hotel pickup included in the price?
Yes, in Phuket. An air-conditioned minibus collects you between about 7:00 and 8:30 am and drives you back after the tour. We confirm your exact time the day before.
Is the public ferry cheaper than a tour?
Per ticket, yes: Visit Thailand Today's October 2026 guide gives about 500 to 700 baht each way for a standard seat. But the ferry reaches only the village at Tonsai, and Maya Bay and the lagoons need another boat.
What happens if the sea is too rough?
If the sea is unsafe, the operator moves the trip to another date or refunds it. On days when the trip runs, the speedboat can still be bumpy, so take seasickness tablets if you need them.
